この個体は原生種「オキュラス」に類似しているが、生物学的には大きく異なっており、完全に別種として分類されるに至っている。
内部構造には本来の臓器が存在せず、全身がプレイグ物質によって構成されている。この擬態体は元の種よりも明らかに大型であり、外見こそオキュラスに似ているものの、実際にはその姿を模してこの生態系へ侵入しているだけの存在であるようだ。その目的は、原種を置き換えること以外にないと考えられる。
評価: 侵略的外来種。食用禁止
This specimen resembles the species designated “Oculus,” but is biologically distinct enough to be classified as an entirely separate species.
Its internal structure lacks proper organs and is instead composed entirely of Plague matter. This impostor is also significantly larger than the original species. Although it visually resembles the Oculus, it appears to be merely imitating its form and invading this ecosystem. Its only purpose seems to be replacing the original species.
Assessment: Invasive species. Do not eat.

概要 / Overview
カラー細菌を遥かに超える危険度を持つ新種病原体「レッド・プレイグ」を実装する大型MOD「The Red Plague」で登場する、オキュラスの変異体。
オキュラスがレッド・プレイグに感染すると、一定の確率でこの異形へと変異する。
A mutated variant of the Oculus that appears in the large MOD The Red Plague, which introduces the Red Plague, a new pathogen far more dangerous than the Kharaa bacterium.
When an Oculus becomes infected by the Red Plague, it has a chance to mutate into this aberrant form.
一見すると通常のオキュラスと大きく変わらないようにも見えるが、瞳孔の形は不安定に歪み、尾ビレを含む身体後半部は鋭い牙を備えた巨大な口のような構造へと変化している。オキュラス本来の特徴である尾ビレは、獲物を捕獲する触手のような器官へと変異しており、口を取り囲むように広がる外観は、タコやイカなどの頭足類を思わせる。
At first glance, it may not appear drastically different from a normal Oculus. However, the shape of its pupil is warped and unstable, while the rear half of its body, including the tail fins, has transformed into a massive mouth-like structure lined with sharp teeth. The distinctive tail fins of the original Oculus have mutated into tentacle-like organs used to capture prey, and their arrangement around the mouth evokes the appearance of cephalopods such as octopuses or squids.

行動 / Behavior
プレイヤーを含む周囲のあらゆる生物に対して攻撃的に振る舞い、凶暴な性質を示す。与えるダメージこそ小さいものの、動きが非常に素早く、採取や建築などで静止している際に不意を突かれやすい。
また、体力も大幅に増加しており、ナイフによる数回の攻撃では無力化できない点にも注意が必要である。
It behaves aggressively toward every nearby creature, including the player, displaying a violent nature. Although the damage it deals is low, it moves extremely quickly, making it easy to be caught off guard while standing still to gather resources or construct buildings.
Its health has also been greatly increased, so it cannot be neutralized with only a few knife strikes.

余談 / Trivia
- アップデートにより、モデルが新たに作り直された。以前はミミック・ピーパーの体色と眼の色を変更し、そのまま大型化したような姿であったが、更新後はオキュラス本来の特徴的な尾ビレを、獲物を捕獲する触手のような器官として再解釈した形態となっている。
- Its model was remade in an update. The previous version looked like an enlarged Mimic Peeper with altered body and eye colors, while the updated version reinterprets the Oculus’s distinctive tail fins as tentacle-like organs used to capture prey.
