A generally passive amalgamation of flesh that has been tasked with the duty of spreading the Red Plague. It does not appear to have any will of its own, and instead seems to be controlled by an unknown entity. Scans indicate a link between creatures infected with the Red Plague. Further investigation is recommended.

概要 / Overview
カラー細菌を遥かに超える危険度を持つ新種病原体「レッド・プレイグ」を実装する大型MOD「The Red Plague」で登場する、大型のプレイグ生命体。
A large plague lifeform that appears in the major MOD “The Red Plague,” which introduces a new pathogen far more dangerous than the Kharaa bacterium.
巨大な翼状の器官を備えた異形の存在であり、水中だけでなく空中をも自在に漂うことができる。眼や口に相当する器官は外部から確認できず、どのように周囲の環境を認識しているのか、そもそも通常の生物と同様の感覚器官を持つのかすら不明である。
An anomalous entity equipped with enormous wing-like organs, capable of drifting freely not only underwater but also through the air. No external organs corresponding to eyes or a mouth can be identified, leaving it unclear how it perceives its surroundings, or whether it even possesses sensory organs comparable to those of ordinary lifeforms.
その身体からは高濃度のプレイグ物質を絶えず放出しており、極めて危険な存在である。

行動 / Behavior
山岳地帯の孤島やフローターアイランドなど、主に陸地周辺の上空で確認される。
It is mainly observed above land-adjacent areas, such as the Mountain Island and the Floating Island.
低く唸るような不気味な音を発しながら、生息域を不規則に徘徊している。移動速度はそれほど速くないものの、周囲には常に赤い霧状の物質を纏い、遠目にも異様な存在感を放っている。
It wanders irregularly through its habitat while emitting an eerie, low groaning sound. Although it does not move particularly quickly, it is constantly surrounded by a red mist-like substance, giving it an unsettling presence even from a distance.
脅威と対処 / Threats & Countermeasures
存在そのものが脅威である。
「The Red Plague」では、プレイヤーにはプレイグ感染度を示すステータスが追加されている。ドリフターの放出する赤い霧状のプレイグ物質を浴びると急速に感染度が上昇し、短時間で危険域に達する。そのため、視認した場合は直ちに距離を取り、絶対に接近しないこと。
Its very existence is a threat.
In “The Red Plague,” the player is given a status value indicating their level of plague infection. Exposure to the red mist-like plague matter released by the Drifter causes this infection level to rise rapidly, reaching dangerous levels in a short amount of time. If one is sighted, immediately keep your distance and never approach it.
プレイグ・ハートの解放後は生息域を大幅に拡大し、あらゆる場所に出没するようになるため要注意。
霧状に降り注ぐプレイグ物質は基地内部に対しても影響を及ぼすため、万一本種が基地周辺に飛来した場合はすぐにその場から離脱し、本種が遠ざかるまで基地内の安全な区画で待機すること。
After the Plague Heart is released, it greatly expands its range and may appear almost anywhere, so extreme caution is required.
The mist-like plague matter it sheds can also affect the inside of bases. If this species approaches the area around your base, leave the immediate vicinity at once and wait in a safe section of the base until it moves away.
殺害自体は可能だが、個体数が多い上にリヴァイアサン級生物に匹敵する体力を持ち、再出現する可能性もあるため、戦闘による排除は推奨されない。
It can be killed, but combat is not recommended: there are many individuals, each has durability comparable to a leviathan-class organism, and they may respawn.

余談 / Trivia
- 2026年6月10日のアップデートにて、外観が大きく変更された。旧版は巨大な眼球を備えた肉塊のような異様な姿だったが、更新後は鳥類や爬虫類を思わせる翼を持った飛行型生物となり、ほぼ別種と言えるほど大きく変化した。
- Its appearance was significantly changed in the June 10, 2026 update. The previous version had the bizarre appearance of a fleshy mass with enormous eyeballs, while the updated version became a winged flying organism reminiscent of birds and reptiles, changing so dramatically that it can almost be considered a different species.
