Suckers are motile lifeforms with star-shaped bodies, a large mouth, several elongated teeth, and a single camera-type eye. This organism is an active swimmer and has been observed pursuing and attaching to moving vehicles and living organisms. However, some individuals remain latched to surfaces where they feast and reproduce for the remainder of their life.
Upon contact, the Sucker latches to its target using its powerful jaws embedded within the ventral surface. Once secured, it emits electrical signals that can interfere with vehicle piloting systems, overriding operator input entirely in some cases. The mechanism behind the signals remains poorly understood, though the patterns appear deliberate rather than random.
Assessment: Detach immediately upon contact - disengagement by force is recommended

This specimen is a rare variant of the common plague-derived species designated as 'suckers'. This variation is exclusively observed within the Aurora's drive core chamber. The extreme radiation levels present in the drive core appear to have had no detrimental effect on the species, suggesting a high tolerance or possible dependence on it.
The lifeform sustains itself on the microscopic debris generated by ongoing reactor corrosion. Ingested particles are deposited beneath the organism's flesh over time, forming a hardened carapace. The oldest specimens display heavy mineralization along the limbs and dorsal skin. This armor can only be punctured using specialized Alterra technology such as the ██████ █████.

カラー細菌を遥かに超える危険度を持つ新種病原体「レッド・プレイグ」を実装する大型MOD「The Red Plague」で登場する、プレイグ生命体。
A plague lifeform appearing in the major MOD “The Red Plague,” which introduces a new pathogen far more dangerous than the Kharaa bacterium.
ヒトデのような体型を持ち、背面には巨大な眼、腹面には鋭い牙を備えた口を有する。
既知の原生生物とは大きく異なる姿をしており、その発生過程や元となった生物は不明である。
It has a starfish-like body, with a huge eye on its dorsal surface and a mouth lined with sharp teeth on its ventral surface.
Its appearance differs greatly from that of any known native species, and both its origin and the organism from which it may have developed remain unknown.
捕獲・調理が可能だが、栄養価はほとんどない。
It can be caught and cooked, but provides almost no nutritional value.

一般的な生物のように海中を遊泳するタイプと、地形や放棄された基地の外壁などに張り付いているタイプの2種類が存在する。
Two forms exist: one that swims through the water like an ordinary creature, and another that remains attached to terrain or the outer walls of abandoned bases.
遊泳個体は単独で海中を移動し、他種の生物やプレイヤーを発見すると接近し、腹面の口で噛みつき攻撃を行う。また、シーモスやプローンスーツなどの乗り物に対してはラーバラルバに似た吸着行動を示す。この吸着自体で機体に直接損傷を与えるわけではないが、プレイヤーの操作に干渉し、機体の制御を著しく困難にする。
Free-swimming individuals travel alone and approach other creatures or the player when detected, attacking with the mouth on their underside. They also attach themselves to vehicles such as the Seamoth and Prawn Suit in a manner similar to Lava Larva. Although the attachment itself does not directly damage the vehicle, it interferes with the player's controls and makes the vehicle extremely difficult to maneuver.
一方、壁面などに張り付いている個体は基本的に装飾的な存在であり、接触しても危険性はない。
Individuals attached to walls or other surfaces, by contrast, are essentially decorative and pose no danger when touched.
本種に関連する異常現象として、サッカーが張り付いた無人のシーモスやプローンスーツが出現することがある。これらは「憑依シーモス」および「憑依プローンスーツ」と呼ばれ、不規則な挙動で周辺を徘徊している。張り付いているサッカーを攻撃すれば憑依状態を解除できるが、解除後もプレイヤーが搭乗して操作することはできない。
As an anomalous phenomenon associated with this species, unmanned Seamoths and Prawn Suits may appear with Suckers attached to them. These are known as “Possessed Seamoths” and “Possessed Prawn,” and wander the surrounding area in an erratic manner. Attacking the attached Suckers will end the possessed state, but the vehicles still cannot be entered or operated by the player afterward.

脅威と対処 / Threats & Countermeasures
攻撃力そのものは低く、生身の状態では大きな脅威とはならない。
Its direct attack damage is low, and it does not pose a major threat to an unprotected swimmer.
しかし、乗り物への吸着による操作妨害は非常に厄介であり、状況によっては致命的な結果を招く。特に耐圧深度の限界付近で吸着された場合、機体の制御を失って限界深度を超え、圧壊する危険性がある。
However, the control interference caused by its attachment to vehicles is extremely troublesome and can prove fatal depending on the circumstances. If it attaches near a vehicle's crush-depth limit, the resulting loss of control may cause the vehicle to descend beyond that limit and implode.
張り付かれた場合は、即座に素手で捕獲するか、ナイフで撃退すること。シーモスの周囲防御システムを使用すれば、より確実かつ安全に排除できる。
If one attaches to a vehicle, immediately remove it by hand or drive it away with a knife. The Seamoth Perimeter Defense System can eliminate it more reliably and safely.
異常個体「放射線変異サッカー」 / Anomalous Variant: Irradiated Sucker
オーロラ号のエンジンルームにのみ存在する、サッカーの変異体。ドライブコアから漏出する放射線に曝露し続けた影響で、体表には硬質の外殻が形成されている。
A variant of the Sucker found only in the Aurora's Drive Room. Prolonged exposure to radiation leaking from the drive core has caused a hardened carapace to form over its body.
ドライブコアの亀裂部を覆うように張り付いており、排除しない限り亀裂を修復できない。サバイバルナイフ、サーモブレード、プロパルションキャノンといった既存のツールは一切効果がないが、プレイグ物質に耐性を持つ素材で製造された「プレイグ・ナイフ」を使用すれば、一撃で排除することが可能である。ドライブコアの修理に向かう際は、必ずこの装備を携行すること。
These individuals cling over cracks in the drive core, preventing repairs until they are removed. Existing tools such as the Survival Knife, Thermoblade, and Propulsion Cannon have no effect, but the Plague Knife, which is made from a material resistant to plague matter, can eliminate one with a single strike. Always carry this tool when heading into the Drive Room to repair the drive core.
排除作業中は、水中を漂う無数のブリーダーに加え、壁面の肉塊に潜む未知の巨大生物の襲撃にも警戒すること。
During removal, remain alert not only for the countless Breeders drifting through the flooded chamber, but also for attacks by an unknown gigantic organism concealed within the masses of flesh covering the walls.

The free-swimming form that possesses vehicles is listed as “Sucker_controller,” while the form that merely remains attached to terrain or structures is listed as “Sucker_generic.” The latter has an extremely high health value of 100,000, but can be eliminated with a single strike from the Plague Knife. -

The following changes were made in the June 10, 2026 update.
- （なぜか）捕獲・調理して食べられるようになった。先述の通り栄養価はほとんどなく、食用としての価値は低い。しかし、ツールで撃退する以外にも、捕獲して無力化するという新たな対処法が生まれた点は、実用上の副次的なメリットと言える。
- (For some reason) It became possible to catch, cook, and eat them. As noted above, they provide almost no nutritional value and are of little use as food. However, this change introduced the secondary practical benefit of allowing them to be neutralized by catching them instead of relying solely on tools.
- オーロラ号のドライブコアに生息する個体は「放射線変異サッカー（Irradiated Sucker）」という変異個体として変更された。データバンクにて本種への対抗策として記載されている「██████ █████」は、字数からして上述の「プレイグ・ナイフ（Plague Knife）」を指しているものと思われる。
- Individuals inhabiting the Aurora's drive core were changed into a distinct variant known as the Irradiated Sucker. The redacted countermeasure written in its databank entry as “██████ █████” is believed to refer to the aforementioned Plague Knife, judging from the number of characters.
- さらに、データバンク画像も新規に追加された。なお、「The Red Plague」で追加された生物のうち、個別のデータバンク画像を持つものは現在のところ本種のみとなっている。
