DNA: This flesh plant’s DNA is original rather than a mutated version, implying the plague has surpassed simple “infestation” and is instead capable of creating complex life forms.
1. Relationship:
The flesh plant has a symbiotic relationship with the plant informally designated “stabby,” allowing both to consume a larger amount of prey than what they could normally obtain on their own. This plant secrets a compound into the water that attracts fish to its location, while the stabby incapacitates prey for mutual digestion. It is unknown how they communicate.
2. Digestion:
The flesh plant has a unique property that allows it to consume creatures and then act as a host for new plague matter growth. The digested matter accumulates in the center of the plant then grows over time into plague matter. In the partially digested stage, this matter contains various resources that could be used for the development of advanced plague technology.

Overview
A predatory plant featured in the large-scale mod The Red Plague.
It has an unsettling appearance resembling a gigantic mushroom covered in sharp spines. It has a symbiotic relationship with a whip-like organism called the “Stabby,” which has a spike at its tip, and together they capture and consume prey that approaches.
Habitat
- Various locations within the crater
- Plague Cave
Behavior
It primarily inhabits cave environments such as the Jellyshroom Caves and the Plague Cave. It is rarely seen in open waters, although a small number of specimens have been observed around research bases contaminated by the plague.
The Plagueshroom itself is not aggressive, but the sharp, thorn-like organisms known as “Stabby” that live on and around it will attack nearby creatures and the player, so caution is required.
Stabbies may also be found living on their own, appearing in dark, confined environments such as cave interiors, the seafloor, and abandoned bases. In such locations, they can function as a kind of trap that catches the player off guard.
“Mysterious Remains” can also be obtained from inside this species. Processing them with the “Mechanical Refiner” may yield valuable items, so they are worth collecting when the opportunity arises. Be mindful of the surrounding Stabbies while collecting them. By using the Propulsion Cannon or the Plague Grappler, it may be possible to pull the Mysterious Remains out from a distance without entering the organism itself.

Trivia
- In the game data, this species is treated as terrain rather than as a creature, so it cannot be damaged by attacks. On rare occasions, mineral deposits may also generate on its surface.
-
The Red Plague adds a large number of terrain features and structures, and possibly as a result, there have been a notable number of reports of generated terrain disappearing. As mentioned above, this species is also internally treated as terrain, and there are cases where it fails to appear properly when the map is loaded.
- If several Stabbies are found unnaturally positioned in otherwise empty water, there is a strong possibility that the Plagueshroom that was supposed to appear there has disappeared.
