ガルガンチュア・リヴァイアサン（ベビー）

「Return of the Ancients」MODに登場する、孵化したばかりのガルガンチュア・リヴァイアサンの幼生。野生の個体は存在せず、卵から孵化させることによってのみ入手可能。

成体および幼体と比較すると遥かに小型ではあるものの、孵化直後の時点ですでに全長20mを超える長大な体躯を持つ。また、頭部の触手や腹面の鮮やかな生物発光部といった外見上の特徴は、幼生の段階ですでに備わっている。

なお、本個体は時間の経過とともに成長し、全身のサイズが徐々に大きくなっていく様子が観察されている。孵化直後には約25mだった全長が、十分に成長すると約3倍の70m以上にまで大型化する。

A newly hatched Gargantuan Leviathan featured in the “Return of the Ancients” mod. No wild specimens exist, and it can only be obtained by hatching it from an egg.

Although far smaller than adult and juvenile specimens, it already exceeds 20 m in length immediately after hatching. External features such as the tentacles on its head and the vivid bioluminescent area on its underside are already present at this early stage of development.

This specimen grows over time, with its entire body gradually increasing in size. Its length is approximately 25 m immediately after hatching, but once fully grown, it becomes roughly three times larger, exceeding 70 m.

異星人施設内で発見された巨大な卵から孵化する。卵を大型水槽に投入する際は、三層以上の容量が必要となるため注意が必要。

幼体や成体が持つ凶暴な性質はこの段階では見られず、プレイヤーや乗り物に対しては完全に無害で、敵意を示すことはない。むしろ高い知能を持つようで、どれほど離れても常にプレイヤーの後を追い、まるで親を慕うかのような行動を見せる。

時折、高速で螺旋を描くように泳いだり、水面から何度も飛び跳ねたりするなど、遊びを思わせる行動が観察される。プレイヤーに対しては、周囲を高速で旋回したり、体で軽く押し動かしたりするなど、無害で親密な交流行動を見せる。また、カドルフィッシュと同様にプレイヤーとのインタラクトが可能であり、手からお菓子を受け取る、死んだふりをする、あるいはプレイヤーが手で作ったハートの中に顔を入れるといった、愛嬌に満ちた反応を見せる。

一方で、プレイヤー以外の生物に対しては非常に攻撃的である。小型の草食魚に対しては、幼体が他のリヴァイアサン種を攻撃する際にも見られる、噛みついたまま体を回転させる攻撃を繰り出し、捕食する姿が頻繁に観察される。中型生物に対しても例外ではなく、鋭い牙で噛みつき、絶命させることがある。さらに攻撃対象はリヴァイアサン種にまで及び、リーパーリヴァイアサンのような敵対的な巨大生物に対しても、全く怯むことなく立ち向かう。この際、ベビー自身が損傷を受ける様子は確認されていない。

ベビーが攻撃するのは主に小型の草食魚や中型・大型の敵対的生物だが、稀に中型・大型の無害な生物に対する攻撃も確認されている。そのため、大型水槽で孵化させた生物を基地周辺でベビーと混泳させることは、安全のため推奨されない。さらに、本種は大型水槽内にいる他の生物に対しても攻撃を行う。他の生物と同じ水槽に入れておくと、それらをことごとく食べ尽くしてしまうため、混泳は絶対に避ける必要がある。

また、稀に頭部から紫色に輝くパルスを放つ行動が観察されている。この現象は成体個体が示すものと同様に、電子機器を無効化するEMPの一種であり、プレイヤーが所持するツールの電力を一時的に喪失させ、使用不能にすることが確認されている。ただし、この段階では能力が十分に発達していないようで、電力が失われる時間は数秒程度に留まる。

It hatches from a gigantic egg discovered inside an alien facility. When placing the egg in an Alien Containment, an enclosure at least three levels tall is required.

The aggressive nature seen in juvenile and adult specimens is absent at this stage, and the baby is completely harmless toward the player and vehicles, showing no hostility. Instead, it appears highly intelligent and will continuously follow the player no matter how far away they move, behaving almost as though it regards the player as a parent.

It is sometimes observed swimming in high-speed spirals or repeatedly leaping out of the water, behaviors that appear playful. Toward the player, it displays harmless and affectionate interactions such as rapidly circling around them or gently nudging them with its body. Like the Cuddlefish, it can also be interacted with directly, displaying endearing responses such as taking a treat from the player's hand, playing dead, or placing its face inside a heart shape made with the player's hands.

In contrast, it is highly aggressive toward creatures other than the player. Against small herbivorous fish, it frequently performs the same bite-and-spin attack seen when juvenile specimens attack other leviathans, and then consumes its prey. Medium-sized creatures are no exception; it may bite them with its sharp teeth and kill them outright. Its targets even include leviathan-class creatures, and it will confront hostile giants such as the Reaper Leviathan without hesitation. During such encounters, the baby itself has not been observed taking damage.

The baby primarily attacks small herbivorous fish and medium- to large-sized hostile creatures, but it has also occasionally been observed attacking harmless medium- and large-sized creatures. For this reason, allowing creatures hatched in an Alien Containment to swim freely around a base together with the baby is not recommended. Notably, the baby can also attack other creatures inside an Alien Containment. If housed together, it will eventually devour all of them, so keeping it with other creatures in the same enclosure should be avoided entirely.

It is also occasionally observed emitting a purple glowing pulse from its head. As with the phenomenon displayed by adult specimens, this is a form of EMP that temporarily drains power from tools carried by the player, rendering them unusable. However, the ability appears to be insufficiently developed at this stage, and the power loss lasts only a few seconds.
