アルファピーパーは、光が豊富な浅瀬に生息していた小型の草食生物であり、常に捕食の危険に晒されていたと考えられる。その進化の過程で、体の両側に光を感知する皮膚を発達させ、それが次第に眼球へと変化した。これにより、他の獲物となる魚よりも効率的に、付近の潜在的な脅威を察知できるようになった。種の個体数が増えるにつれ、生息域を拡大し、アイアイやレジナルドのような亜種へと分化していった。
現生のピーパーが持つ2本の噴射管や強力なヒレといった特徴は比較的新しい適応形質であり、これは、4546Bの生命が外的脅威への対応として、ここ数千年の間に急速な進化期を経験したという説を裏付けている。

With the acquired data it has been possible to construct a profile of the theoretical last common ancestor of the modern-day peeper and other small fish.
The alpha peeper would have been a small herbivore prone to predation in the shallow waters where the light was abundant. It likely developed photosensitive skin on each side, which over time became eyeballs, and allowed it to detect the presence of nearby threats more efficiently than other prey fish. As the species grew in number it expanded to new territories, developing into subspecies like the eyeye and the Reginald.
Modern-day features of the peeper such as its twin expulsion tubes and powerful fins are quite recent adaptations, supporting the theory that life on 4546B underwent a period of rapid evolution in recent millennia in response to an external threat.

行動 / Behavior
ロストリバー各地に少数の個体が生息している。動きは比較的緩やかで、美しいヒレを波打たせながら泳ぐ姿が観察される。
体は非常に小さく発見は困難だが、付近にいる場合は鳥のさえずりのような鳴き声が聞こえるため、それを手がかりにするとよい。巨大幽霊樹のエリアでは多数の群れが確認されており、周囲の幻想的な雰囲気を一層際立たせている。
体色の異なる5種の変異体が存在し、最もカラフルな“スペクトル”、黒みを帯びた体に緑の目とヒレを持つ“ライムフリル”、同じく黒い体に紫の目とヒレを持つ“マゼンタフリル”、ピンク色の体に水色の目、黒い縁取りのある紫のヒレを持つ“フェザード”、そして青みがかった体とヒレを持つ“オーロラ”が確認されている。マゼンタフリルとフェザードは一見区別が難しいが、目の色によって判別可能である。
表層の海底に存在するリヴァイアサンの遺骸付近で、極めて稀に少数の個体が目撃されることがある。本種は現在、ロストリバーのような深層の洞窟環境にのみ生息していると考えられており、それ以外の環境で確認される例は極めて珍しい。なぜ表層域に出現するのか、その理由は現時点では不明である。
Small numbers of this species inhabit various parts of the Lost River. Its movements are relatively slow, and it can be observed swimming while gently undulating its beautiful fins.
Although its very small size makes it difficult to spot, a bird-like chirping call can be heard when one is nearby, making the sound a useful clue to its presence. Large schools can be found around the Giant Cove Tree, further enhancing the area's otherworldly atmosphere.
Five color variants are known: the highly colorful “Spectral,” the “Lime-frilled” with a dark body and green eyes and fins, the “Magenta-frilled” with a similarly dark body and purple eyes and fins, the “Feathered” with a pink body, light-blue eyes, and purple fins edged in black, and the “Auroral” with a bluish body and fins. The Magenta-frilled and Feathered variants can be difficult to distinguish at first glance, but can be told apart by the color of their eyes.
On extremely rare occasions, a small number of individuals may be seen near leviathan remains on the seafloor in surface biomes. This species is currently thought to inhabit only deep cave environments such as the Lost River, making sightings elsewhere exceptionally rare. Why it appears in surface waters remains unknown.

- 先述のPDAデータバンクは、標準ゲーム内に未使用データとして存在するエントリを抜粋したものである。現状、本種をスキャンすることはできず、このデータバンクを通常のゲームプレイで入手することもできない。
- アルファピーパーはかつて浅瀬で繁栄していた草食魚であるにもかかわらず、現在その姿が確認できるのはロストリバーに限られている。この理由として、外敵の増加や環境変化に適応するため、天敵の少ない地下洞窟へと生息域を移した可能性が考えられる。
- 行動欄に記載した通り、本MODで追加されるリヴァイアサンの遺骸付近において、極めて稀に本種を発見できる場合がある。おそらく、これらの地点では低確率でスポーンするよう設定されている可能性があるが、詳細な条件は不明である。

- Although the Alpha Peeper was once a herbivorous fish that flourished in shallow waters, it is now found only in the Lost River. One possible explanation is that, in response to increasing numbers of predators or environmental changes, it shifted its habitat to underground caves with fewer natural enemies.
- As noted in the Behavior section, this species can very rarely be found near leviathan remains added by this mod. These locations may be configured as low-probability spawn points, though the exact conditions are unknown.
