ポッドシェル・リヴァイアサンの幼体。本種は惑星4546Bで確認されている非攻撃的なリヴァイアサン級生物の中でも最大級の一種である。成長サイクルが非常に遅いため、現存する個体の多くは依然として幼体の段階にある。
1. 高密度のケラチン質外殻:
幼体の殻は高密度で防御性に優れ、成体の個体と比べても遜色がない。特筆すべき点として、幼体の殻板は老齢個体と比較しても損傷の程度に差異は見られない。これは、生涯を通じて定期的に脱皮を行うためである。幼体の外殻も成体と同レベルの防御力を持ち、捕食者に対して有効に機能する。なお、幼体が頭部や尾部を自然に引っ込める様子は観察されていないが、この発達段階においては解剖学的に可能であることが示唆されている。
2. 抱卵:
このリヴァイアサンは、発育中の胚を背部の殻の上で保持する習性を持つ。若齢個体であっても、卵は継続的に体内から厚く発達した皮膚層へと運ばれ、保護用の有機的な巣を形成する。幼体のポッドシェルリヴァイアサンも、既に一通りの卵を発達させている。生まれつき備わった群れを作る習性により、幼体とその卵が捕食されるリスクは極めて低い。
3. 強力な顎:
鋸歯状の歯を備えた巨大で強力な顎を持ち、主に硬い繊維質の植物を引き裂いて摂食する。しかし、若い個体の嘴状の部位は比較的鈍くなっており、成体よりも複雑な食性を持っている可能性がある。
4. 卵の成長:
幼体が十分に成長すると、親個体は背部に保持していた卵嚢を脱落させる。分離した胚は内部に蓄えられた栄養分を吸収した後、弱まった膜を突き破り自立した個体として誕生する。
評価: 無害だが、家族によって厳重に保護されている
This is a juvenile specimen of the Podshell Leviathan species, which is one of the largest passive leviathans on 4546B. Due to their slow developmental cycle, a large number of living specimens are still juveniles.
1. Dense Keratinous Shell:
The juvenile Podshell's shell is dense and protective, comparable to that of adult specimens. Notably, individual shell plates in juveniles are not any more or less damaged than those in elder specimens, because they shed regularly at all stages of life. The juvenile's shell provides the same level of protection, deterring predators effectively. Juveniles have not been observed naturally retracting their head or tail, but such an action may in fact be anatomically possible at this stage of development.
2. Egg Carrying:
Podshell Leviathans carry developing embryos atop their dorsal shells. Even at a young age, eggs are continuously transferred from internal organs into a thickened layer of skin that forms its protective organic nest. Juvenile Podshell Leviathans already have a full set of eggs developing. Due to their innate group-forming behavior, there is minimal risk of predation for juveniles and their eggs.
3. Powerful Jaw:
This leviathan possesses massive, powerful jaws with serrated teeth, capable of tearing hard, fibrous materials, primarily to consume tough vegetation. However, younger specimens have much more dull beaks, suggesting they may have a more complex diet.
4. Egg Development:
Once an egg is fully developed, the leviathan sheds the egg sac carried alongside its back. Once detached, the embryo consumes the remaining nutrients within the egg and ruptures the weakened membrane, finally emerging independently.
Assessment: Harmless but closely guarded by its family

概要 / Overview
YouTuberのSteveKong氏らのチームが制作したMOD「Podshell Leviathan 」に登場する、巨大なカメを思わせる姿のリヴァイアサン級生物の幼体。
その姿はSubnauticaの初期コンセプトアートの1つとして知られていたが、長らく本編への実装は果たされなかった。コンセプトアートの公開から10年以上の時を経た現在、構想上の存在であったこの生物が、ついに4546Bの海に姿を現すことになった。
A juvenile Leviathan-class organism resembling a gigantic turtle, featured in the MOD Podshell Leviathan, created by a team including YouTuber SteveKong.
The creature was known from one of Subnautica's early pieces of concept art, but remained absent from the game for many years. More than a decade after the concept art was published, this once-conceptual creature has finally appeared in the oceans of 4546B.

行動 / Behavior
主にクレーター外縁付近の水深の深いバイオームにおいて、表層から中層をゆっくりと遊泳する姿が観察される。2～4頭ほどの個体で緩やかな群れを形成している場合が多く、ごくまれに体長数mほどの幼生個体が確認されることもある。
データバンクでは植物食性であることが記されており、プレイヤーを含む他の生物に対して攻撃的な行動を示す様子は確認されていない。
時折、前脚で顔の周辺を擦るような動作を見せるほか、大きく口を開けて咆哮することもある。これが威嚇行動なのか、あるいは同種個体間のコミュニケーションの一種かは不明。咆哮は低い音色ながら遠方からでも認識できるほど強く、至近距離では視界が揺れるほどの迫力を伴う。
なお、本体からは小さな外殻片が脱落することがあり、これはプレイヤーが回収可能である。バイオリアクターの燃料として非常に優秀な素材であることが確認されているほか、他にも未確認の用途が存在する可能性が示唆されている。
本種の生息域では、海底に本種の卵が発見されることがある。データバンクの記載から、これらは十分に発育する前に背部から分離したものと考えられる。卵は全部で5つ存在し、回収して大型水槽に投入することで孵化させることが可能。
なお、海底の本種の卵の周囲では、他の環境では確認されていない特異な植物の存在も報告されているが、本種との関連性は明らかになっていない。
This species is primarily observed swimming slowly through the upper and middle waters of deep biomes near the outer edge of the crater. It often forms loose groups of two to four individuals, and on very rare occasions, baby specimens measuring only several meters in length may also be encountered.
The databank describes the species as herbivorous, and it has not been observed displaying aggression toward other creatures, including the player.
It occasionally rubs the area around its face with its forelimbs and may also open its mouth wide and roar. Whether this is a threat display or a form of communication between members of the species is unknown. Although low-pitched, the roar is powerful enough to be heard from a great distance and, at close range, produces enough force to shake the player's view.
Small fragments of its outer shell occasionally break away from the body and can be collected by the player. They have been confirmed to be exceptionally effective fuel for the Bioreactor and may also have other, as-yet-unidentified uses.
Eggs of this species can sometimes be found on the seafloor within its habitat. Based on the databank entry, these are believed to have detached from the parent's back before they were fully developed. Five eggs exist in total and can be collected and hatched in an Alien Containment.
Unusual plants not observed in any other environment have also been reported around these eggs, although their relationship to the Podshell Leviathan remains unknown.

- デザイン元は、SubnauticaのコンセプトアーティストPat Presley氏によるイラスト「Giant Turtle」。

初遭遇時には、PDAが以下のメッセージを発する。この際には、専用BGMが流れる演出も用意されている。
『付近で低周波の緩やかな鼓動を検知しました。生体反応からリヴァイアサン級の生物であると推測されます。警戒してください。』 - 巨体ゆえに移動経路は広範囲にわたり、複数のバイオームをまたいで移動することも多い。場合によってはデッドゾーンへ進入することもあるため、追跡の際は注意が必要。
- 現時点では外部の脅威に対する自衛行動を取らず、リーフバックリヴァイアサンのように完全に受動的な性質を示している。今後のアップデートでは、自衛行動に加え、幼体を外敵から保護する群れ行動の実装が予定されている。
- 本体から脱落する外殻片は、今後のアップデートで基地の強化に利用できるようになるとみられる。公開済みの情報からは、「補強材」と組み合わせて使用する可能性が示唆されている。

Upon the player's first encounter with the species, the PDA delivers the following message. A dedicated music track also plays during this sequence.
“Sensors indicate a slow, deep-frequency heartbeat nearby. Biomass readings suggest it is a leviathan-class lifeform. Stay alert.” - Due to its immense size, it travels across a wide area and frequently moves between multiple biomes. It may occasionally enter the Dead Zone, so caution is advised when attempting to follow it.
- At present, it takes no defensive action against external threats and behaves as a completely passive creature, much like the Reefback Leviathan. Future updates are planned to add defensive behavior as well as group behavior in which adults protect juveniles from predators.
- The outer-shell fragments shed by the creature are expected to become usable for reinforcing bases in a future update. Publicly available information suggests that they may be used in combination with Reinforcements.
